Chapter 3
In the armory, Duo goes and retrieves his weapons, as well as a helmet and bulletproof armor. After getting his stuff, he sits on a nearby bench. Then, a young man with short-brown hair, wearing a headband, walks up and sits next to him.
"You must be the one under Captain Vence Nagashi's command, correct?" the figure said to Duo.
Duo stops and looks up to him. He then gives him a nod, confirming that the statement was right.
The figure then smiles. "Ha ha. Cool. Good to see a new face. My name is Key Houston. Specialist. 20 years old. What's your name, kid?" he asks.
"Duo Ikizaki. Private First Class." Duo replied.
"It's good to meet you, Duo." Key smiled. He then looks at the helmet and armor that Duo had at his side. "Heh. You do know that Ghost Brigade soldiers don't wear armor, right?" Key asks him.
Duo looks at the armor before looking back at Key, giving a nod. "Yes sir... but... I wanted to be extra careful..." Duo said.
Key gives a smile and soon takes the helmet and armor and puts them on top of the lockers. "I like your thinking, however... we, Ghost Brigade, strike swiftly and silently. Helmets and armor usually slow us down. That's why we just wear what we have now."
Duo looks at his GB jacket. "I... see..." he said.
"Besides... your weapons ARE your protection. Just like this baby right here." Key said as he shows his grenade launcher to Duo. "Every GB soldier carries both a range and close-quarter weapon. Just like my trusty tri-spear." as he spins his spear then rests it on his shoulders.
"Whoa... you got some big weapons there." Duo said in awe.
"Heh. Stick with me, kid. All of us will get through this war and kill all those Underworld bastards back to hell." Key smiled with confidence.
Duo gives a small nod as well as a smile, agreeing to what he said.
"Key. There you are. Wyatt is lookin' for you. Top deck." a figure said as he walks towards them.
The figure had short, white hair with part of his hair tied on the left-side of his head. He wore glasses though it was only used for the right-eye, making it look like it was a monocle.
"The longer he waits, the more aggressive he'll be." the figure continued.
Key laughs a bit. "Alright. Alright. Hey, Sai. Meet the new kid, Duo." he says to the figure.
The figure then looks at Duo and gives a bow with a bit of a smile. "It's nice to meet you. My name is Sai Ishida." he said.
"Sai here is a 'SPECIAL'-type Ghost Brigade. Half-Ghost and Half-Demon." Key smiled as he wraps an arm around Sai's neck.
Hearing that, Duo was a bit surprised to hear such a thing. First time he has ever seen a real half-breed, even though Sai looked normal.
"Don't let my appearance fool you. I keep my human form but I tend to grow fox-ears and a tail which increases my speed. Don't worry though. I don't go 'beserk' or something but I do get weaker if I keep constantly using it. It's a habit." Sai said, laughing awkwardly as he scratches the back of his head.
"Ha! You don't know how many times I had to save his ass from the heat of battle." Key gloated.
"Save? If I remember correctly... I had to use my speed to drag you out of a trench before you get clobbered by artillery." Sai said back.
Key gives a small laugh. "Oh yeah... I remember that." he said.
"Anyway... get up there and meet up with Wyatt." Sai said to Key.
Giving a nod, Key gets up and walks to the door. Before walking out, he looks back at Duo and smiles. "I'll see you on the battlefield, kid." Key said as he walks out the locker room.
Duo then looks at Sai. "So... how long have you two known each other?" he asks, wondering about the two.
Sai gives a smile. "It was a few years ago back at the Academy. You could say we're sort of like rivals. Other than that, we've always got each others back." he said.
"I see... that's nice." Duo says as he gives a gentle smile.
Suddenly, the alarm goes off. This meant that the landings are about to begin. Soldiers and pilots quickly report to their stations.
"Well! Looks like that's the signal! Lets go, Duo!" Sai said.
Duo gives a nod. "Right!"
Both of them soon run of and report with Wyatt's group.
