Ghost Brigade Chpt. 9

                                                           Rescue

Ike stares at the gaping hole. He falls to his knees and leans forward on to his arms. He punches the ground.

Ike: D... Damn it...

Sai walks to Ike and puts his hand on Ike's back.

Ike: I'm sorry...

Sai, knowing what Ike is feeling, began rubbing his back.

Sai: It's not your fault. You tried to rescue Duo but in the end...
Ike: It is my fault... He was still a newcomer and now... he's...

Ike and Sai stared at the hole.

Back on the USS Emblem. Piro had his right arm over his face.

Piro: Duo...

Piro takes his headset off. Decided to get up and walk outside but before he does, he receives a faint signal. Piro looks at the map and the signal was coming from Sunshine 60.

Piro: I can't believe it...

Piro quickly puts his headset back on and tries to contact Ike and Sai.

Ike still upset about himself and Sai still rubbing his back, received Piro's signal.

Piro: Ike! Sai!

Ike answers the walkie talkie.

Ike: Yes, Piro?
Piro: Your going to find this hard to believe but I'm receiving a faint signal in your position.
Sai: A signal? You mean...
Piro: Don't get your hopes up but it's possible.

Ike and Sai taking no chances, walk up to Wyatt to take five soldiers to find Duo. Wyatt agreed without hesitation. Sai and Ike began their search.

Water dripping from the pipes, hitting the rubble. Another drip coming from a different pipe was falling on a badly wounded young boy.Huge chunks of rubble were partially covering him.

Duo: Uh...

Blood was falling from his forehead to his face. He had his right eye close. His body had scratches and wounds. He could barely move any part of his body. His left arm was badly hurt. He couldn't move it.

Duo: (I can't move...)

All of a sudden, light appeared and it shined on Duo. Unfortunately, it was a enemy patrol of Underworld soldiers.

Underworld Soldier: Sir. Looks like this one is still alive. What should we do with him?
Underworld Commander: Kill him.
Underworld Soldier: With pleasure.

The squad cocked their guns and aimed at Duo. He tries to flee by using his power but do to the injuries, he was too weak. Feeling that it was all over, Duo closes his eye. Before the enemy could execute Duo, gunfire came out of no where. The enemy, in confusion, were about to return fire but were all taken out before they could fight back.

Duo opened up his left eye to see what happened but his sight was getting blurry and he was about to black out. Before his eye completely close, he saw shadows walk into the room. One of them had the gun pointed at Duo. He called out very weakly.

Duo: P-Please... Help... Help me...

Another shadow went up to the one who had the gun pointed at Duo. The shadow slowly drops his gun. A different shadow walks up to Duo. The shadow was saying something but Duo slowly blacked out.

Shadow: .... Don't worry... You are in safe hands...

The voice was very faint. Duo slowly blacks out.
