Ghost Brigade Chpt. 21

                                                     Wyatt's Dark Side

The Chinooks finally came. There was 5 of them. All were carrying both reinforcements and supplies. The Coalition soldiers were helping the Resistance evacuate back to the ships.

Rose: Are you sure you'll be okay?
Duo: Yeah. I'll be fine! Just take the girls and go to the ship where it is going to be safe.
Rose: Okay.

Rose hugs Duo. Her and the girls went inside the copter. The hatch slowly closed. As it did, Duo watches. He sees Rose look at him. She was saying something but the helicopter's motors were to loud, he could read her lips though.

RoseMake... sure... you... stay... alive...)

Duo smiles.

Duo: I will.

Fortunately, Rose can read lips too. She smiled to Duo's reply. Both of them waved until the hatch finally closed.

Chinook Pilot: Okay. We are heading back.
Black Hawk Pilot: Copy that. You'll need an escort.

Duo watches. Three Chinooks carrying the Resistance took off with eight Black Hawks as escorts.

Duo: At least... I know they're safe now...

Duo sits down on some debris. Coalition Soldiers were now using the building as an outpost. Setting up defenses. A shadow comes up from behind him. The figure puts a blanket on Duo.

???: You okay?

Duo slowly turns his head.

Duo: Oh. Kisuke.
Kisuke: Mind if I sit down?
Duo: No... I don't mind.

Kisuke sits right next to Duo and stretches and looks up at the sky.

Duo: You know...
Kisuke: Hmm?
Duo: You and Wyatt... were... awesome...

Kisuke smiles and rubs Duo's head.

Kisuke: You think so?
Duo: Yeah... but... Wyatt... was kinda... scary...

Kisuke knew what Duo was talking about. He continues rubbing Duo's head.

Duo: Why... did... he act like that?

Kisuke takes a deep breath and exhales.

Kisuke: Okay... let me explain it to you...

Kisuke looks straight forward as he continues on.

Kisuke: He was known as " The Executioner"
Duo: "The Executioner?"
Kisuke: Yes, that's right. "Wyatt The Executioner."
Duo: Why was he called that?
Kisuke: Because... Every battle he's been in, he leaves nothing but death and destruction unto the enemy. He never showed any mercy to enemy wounded, instead, he kills them on the spot. When he leaves the battle, he is always soaked in blood of the enemy and with a smile on his face.

Duo felt a chill go through his spine. Kisuke watched Duo's reaction.

Kisuke: Don't worry. He only does that to the enemy. So your safe.

Duo exhale in relief.

Duo: That's good. I don't want to get on that guy's bad side.

Both of them giggled a bit. Kisuke continued.

Kisuke: Anyway... Wyatt never felt sympathy for the enemy. He could careless what the enemy's condition is. He wants to rid the world of "The Underworld."
Duo: But... What was Wyatt's reason to go spiral into madness?

Kisuke paused for a minute.

Duo: Kisuke?

Kisuke turns to Duo.

Kisuke: Do you remember Charleston?
Duo: Yes

How could he forget? Duo considered Charleston a friend more than a butler.

Duo: Why?
Kisuke: Well...

He pauses again.

Kisuke: ... He... was Wyatt's older brother.

Duo didn't know how to react to the statement.

Duo: Older brother? Charleston!?
Kisuke: Yeah...
Duo: I didn't know that!
Kisuke: Well... now you do. Before I became your teacher, Wyatt and I both enlisted in the Ghost Brigade Academy since we had "The Vanishing." We trained and laughed together. He wanted to be like his brother. To fight side by side. Until June 28, 2017, that's when the attack on Britain happened and when you told me what happened about Charleston.

Kisuke pauses again but this one was longer. He takes a deep breath.

Kisuke: Wyatt loved his brother dearly. When Charleston turned 19 in 2013, he left home to join the Academy hoping that the salary would help both his younger brother and his family. Soon in 2016 at age 18, Wyatt attended the Academy.

Kisuke shook his head.
