Ghost Brigade Chpt. 15

                                                       Day of Disaster

Duo: Here's what happened in Britain. This was two years after you left Rose

*FLASHBACK*

[London, Great Britain
June 28, 2017
8:00 a.m.
Rose's Mansion]

Duo runs down the stairs, to the dining hall. Charleston was there.

Charleston: Oh! Mr. Duo.
Duo: Hey, Charleston.
Charleston: Going to practice with Naomi again?
Duo: Not this time. Just going to go run for a bit.
Charleston: Okay.

Duo grabs a piece of toast and runs out the door.

Duo: I'll see you later Charleston!
Charleston: Master Duo! Please Don't... be... late...

Before he could finish his sentence, Duo was already gone. Charleston smiles a bit.

Charleston: That young lad. Still the same as always. I sure hope he is still not depressed.

Duo was running through the same route and the same street he always take. As he was running, the sky goes black. He stops running and stares up at the sky, the rest of the population were also staring.

Duo: What the...?

The ground began to shake. A multiple, Orange Warp gates opened up throughout the city. Then, flame rocks come flying out from the gates hitting anything random making them explode. Multiple creatures start to come out. They were carrying hand-held weapons and guns. They began shooting and trashing London. Duo quickly hides behind a car. He watches as the population start running and screaming.

Duo: What's going on!?

His cell phone rings. Picks it up and answers.

Duo: Yeah!?

It was Charleston.

Charleston: Master Duo! Hurry up and return to the mansion!.
Duo: Heading back!

Duo concentrates his power and merges into the ground.

At the mansion, Duo reemerges and goes through the door. He quickly finds Charleston. Him and the rest of the house were barricading the doors and windows.

Duo: Charleston! What's going on!?
Charleston: It's an invasion!
Duo: An invasion? By who?
Charleston: We don't know, sir. But this isn't your normal enemy.

Explosions and gunfire were heard outside. Charleston and Duo quickly run to the nearest window and looked outside. British tanks and soldiers were opening up on the enemy. The more the British kill, the more that come out from the portal. Then a giant creature came through. (Think of Gears of War). Gatling guns on both arms and a rocket on its back. The soldiers and the tanks didn't hesitate and began opening up on it but were quickly taken out by the Gatling guns. The monster destroyed the tanks with the rocket.

The creature then faces towards the mansion. Aims the Gatling guns.

Charleston: EVERYBODY DOWN!!!

Opens up on the mansion. Most fell to the ground but some weren't so lucky. Charleston breaks the floor board and takes rifles out. Duo was shocked. Charleston notices.

Charleston: What? Just because were servants doesn't mean we can't fight.

The creature stops. The enemy infantry begin to walk up to the mansion. The Gatling guns made a few large holes in the mansion, making it easy for the infantry to walk in. Bodies were lying in the rubble. The enemy continued to walk more into the house. Then...

Charleston: NOW!!!

The workers quickly got up and began shooting at the enemy. Charleston and Duo were hiding under the rubble. Charleston whacks one of the enemy in the head with his rifle butt.

Charleston: That one's for Britain, you bloody bastard!
Worker: Charleston!

Charleston looks. The big creature was in front of him. Charleston smiles.

Charleston: You want some too?

The creature swings at him.

Duo: Charleston!

The punch goes through Charleston. Duo was shocked again.

Charleston: I haven't use this power for a while now.

Reemerges his lower body from the creatures fist and begins running on it, aiming towards the head. The creature tries to hit Charleston with the other arm. Too late, Charleston made it to the creatures head. Aims the rifle on the forehead.

Charleston: Too slow.

Pulls the trigger, killing the creature instantly. The body falls backwards. Charleston does a somersault, landing right in front of Duo. Duo was speechless.

Charleston: Sorry I didn't tell you sooner.

Duo couldn't say anything.

Charleston: I am a member of the special forces of the Ghost Brigade. A mercenary army.
Duo: Mercenary?
Charleston: Yes, I was paid to protect miss Rose from any harm. I always watched over her and she took care of me. I shall repay her hospitality by protecting you.

After that said, a shadow comes up from behind Duo. Charleston quickly notices it. The shadow draws a sword. Charleston oushes Duo out the way. The shadow stabs Charleston through the chest.

Duo: Charleston!

Charleston was coughing up blood. He grabs the sword and smiles.

Charleston: If I die... I'm taking you with me!

He pulls the pistol from his side and fires at the shadows head, killing it. The shadow falls, pulling out the sword. Charleston falls on his knees and falls back. Duo runs to his side.

Duo: Charleston! Please! Don't die!
Charleston: Duo... Take this.

He hands duo a walkie-talkie.

Charleston: You can use this to call the General.
Duo: For what?
Charleston: Tell him that civilians need an evac quick.

Charleston coughs out blood and began to breathe hard. His vision was getting blurry but he can still witness the battle. Workers falling to the ground. Screams can be heard.

Charleston: Duo...
Duo: Yes...?
Charleston: Quickly... Run away...
Duo: What...? No way! I'm not leaving you!
Charleston: You have to... for Rose and Naomi.

Duo Realized that he needed to check Naomi and he wanted to see Rose again but he still didn't want to leave Charleston there.

Duo: But... What about you...?
Charleston: I'll be fine... Now go...

Duo gets up and quickly runs out the back door. Charleston watches as Duo runs behind him. Now he was alone. The enemy getting closer.

Charleston: Too weak to use my powers... but that doesn't mean I don't have a special present for you. You bastards.

He puts his right hand into his shirt and pulls out a detonator ignition. The creatures get closer.

Charleston: Boom...

Presses it. A huge explosion erupted throughout the mansion. The mansion falls.

Charleston: Duo... I'm sorry...

Duo stops running and turns around. Sees the mansion burst into flames and burt into smithereens. Duo knew what happened. Tears fell from his eyes but he needed to continue. He turns back around and runs.
