Orrel is American as his father; that is to say, a former Russian Spetnaz (Special Forces) assault class officer could be. Of course, his father wanted what was best for his little boy: a quality education, wonderful friends, the ability to protect himself. And, of course, his little boy wanted to be like him. Of course, like every parent, his father knew he was unique and special; at the age of 12, little Orrel had been able to blink in and out of the visible spectrum, and age 14, well…. The heavy equipment was kept out of his reach. And then a man showed up at their door. A man with odd eyes. A man with a warrant for deportation back to Russia unless Orrel would cooperate for “The good of the U.S.A. and mankind.”
Orrel loves his father, and would move any oversized abomination that got in his way to make his father happy. The others of the academy and the Ghost Brigade….He has his ups and downs. Just don’t call him One-Eye.
