Balance Chpt. 1

                                                        Chapter 01

2000. A new year and a new millennium. People are happy that the world didn't end on midnight nor did Y2K ever went haywire. The humans were enjoying their celebration. But... what they didn't know is that a war has broken out. This isn't your average war but a supernatural one. The line that separated light and darkness has finally been broken. The Dark Lord has declared war on the Kingdom of Light.

Following the remaining years of 2000. People from around the world have been reporting seeing flying creatures flying in the sky. One with white wings and the other with black... It wasn't just 2000, but recent reports from 2001-2004... The humans... were in the middle of the crossfire... This year... it's 2005...

In Shibuya, Japan, a 26-year old boy, short blond hair and green eyes, was walking in the shopping district. His name is Garnet. He graduated from America and he works as an engineer in Japan. He speaks English really well and also Japanese. Although he has good pay and a very respected job... he's always bored. He wants something exciting to happen in his life. Something out of the ordinary... Well... he's about to get his wish... but like they always say... "Be careful what you wish for."

Garnet passes a news stand and the newspaper catches his eyes.
"Unknown creatures flying in the sky. Scientists baffled."
Garnet opens the newspaper and reads a little of it before putting it back.

Garnet: Man... If only I could see things like that...

His request was answered. Suddenly, the ground shook by an explosion. Everybody began running and screaming. Then, three more explosions. Garnet stands there. His curiosity got in control of him. Out of the smoke appeared to what looked like two winged creatures. To Garnet's eyes, they looked like humans with wings.

One had white wings, dressed in a white and blue striped coat, wearing a grey helmet so it was hard to see the hair and the eyes. While the other had black wings, dressed in a black and red striped jacket and pants, with long light-purple hair, chasing down the other. The two were flying through the city, making turns, trying to take down the other.

???: You light scum! Feel the power of Darkness!

The black-winged figure creates five red orbs and fires it at the white-winged warrior. However, the warrior was able to turn around, as it was flying, puts a hand in front and summon what looked like a blue transparent shield. The orbs hits it making them explode. The light warrior flies out of the smoke unharmed.

???: What a nuisance...

The Dark warrior looks around and sees a mother and a child who were running. He smiles and sees a building where the parent and her child were running to. He takes his hand and aims it. Fires an orb, blowing a chunk of the building. The chunk begins to fall. The mother and child looked up and was shocked. The Light warrior turns around and sees what his enemy was doing. The Dark followers had a code and it was:

"To achieve what you are aiming for, you might have to hurt and/or kill to achieve it."

The Light followers were the complete opposites:

"Even in conflict, innocent lives should not be lost because of our foolishness."

In other words, save humans from harm.

The white warrior quickly turns around and heads straight towards the mother and child. The chunk was getting closer and closer. Then smoke build up. The Dark warrior believed he finally eliminated his enemy. The smoke cleared. The white warrior was able to push them out of the way and use the wings to cover them from the smoke. The Light warrior opens the wings revealing that he nor his victims were scratched.

The Dark warrior was furious and heads straight towards the Light warrior, summoning his scythe. The Light warrior gestured the mother and the child to run before taking off straight to his enemy, summoning a sword. (Note: Garnet was watching all this happen.)

They clashed in the sky. Swinging their weapons and firing projectiles at each other. The Dark warrior fires his orbs at the other but these were smoke orbs (think smoke bombs). The Light warrior began coughing until he gets whacked and he flies straight to the ground into a little shop. This caused a lot of smoke. Garnet runs to the ruined building to find the white-winged creature. He climbs onto the rubble.

Garnet: Hey! Are you okay!?

He looks around trying to find anything. Then, he spots something. A white wing was sticking out of the rubble. He quickly rushes to it and begins flipping over the rocks, debris, and other rubble. Finishing, throwing off the rubble, Garnet was surprised to see that the wings were connected to a human. Garnet was in a daze before realizing that this person's life might be in danger. He turns the unconscious body over and begins shaking it.

Garnet: Wake up! Say something!

Then, the helmet falls revealing a short black hair boy, probably 19 yrs. old. This surprises Garnet. The young boy slowly wakes up, revealing his teal eyes. He sees a face staring at him. The Light warrior quickly jumps and sits at a distance from the figure.

???: Who are you!? Are you the enemy!?

Garnet jumps by the boys reaction and makes a hand gesture "Whoa. Calm down."

Garnet: Don't worry. I'm not here to hurt you.
???: Are you a human?
Garnet: Yes.
???: I have to say that your a strange one. Others would run while you would run to the danger.

Garnet scratches the back of his head and smiles.

Garnet: Yeah... Curiosity killed the cat.

Garnet realized something.

Garnet: What's your name?

The white-winged warrior stands up.

???: I was ordered not to give my name to the innocents but for you... It's Haze. What about you, human?
Garnet: Garnet. That's my name.

Suddenly, both of them heard a voice.

???: Are you still alive, you Light coward? Or does my power leave you speechless? Come out! If not... Then I'm coming for you.
Haze: You need to go! This isn't a safe pl- Gah!

Haze falls to his knees. Garnet rushes to his side.

Garnet: What's wrong?

Garnet sees a red color smeared on the wings and on the warriors arms.
